Coptic Times Coptic Times. Track Listing. I hope someone gets to work on this and reissues a digitally remastered version because this record is a masterpiece. Added to Cart. One person found this helpful.
Producer Ric Ocasek is largely responsible, but the increased tightness and focus are also a function of maturation. This band was a weird bundle of contradictions from day one: black Rastafarian instrumental virtuosos playing hardcore punk, formerly the exclusive domain of white, aggressively atheist musical amateurs. That last contradiction would come to full musical flower on I Against I , but Rock for Light shows the band at the height of its punk energy.

There was a problem filtering reviews right now. But as you may have noticed, some others have said that this speed is wrong on this version, that's it's too fast, and that's no joke.
I'm not sure who thought speeding up the world's fastest band was a good idea, but it wasn't. The CD is unlistenable the way it is 0 stars. If you rip your CDs and listen to music on a media player though, you can open up the files in Audacity to correct the speed. I used the original LP as a reference and you want to decrease the speed of the CD rips by 6. So if you go in and slow down the files, don't slow down tracks 5, 10, 15 and 20, you can leave them as they are.

The songs show strong punk influences -- long before BB adopted reggae and progressive hardcore sounds into their songwriting -- but the lyrics show the same angry, topical style as is found in later releases.
The production is raw I think it's an eight track recording, and I heard that Rock for Light was originally released on cassette! The title track and "Big Takeover" are particularly good. Bad Brains is an acquired taste probably, but I acquired it from the first record and most of them still hold up.
Go check out the DC episode of Sonic Highways to learn about these guys. Reggae punk with metal guitars. You can't make this stuff up. I had this on cassette in the mid's and I swear the production on that cassette was not as bad as the production on this CD.
Maybe the CD shows the flaws more than a cassette but this sounds like poop. So many elements of the band's brilliance are lost in the tinny production. Spin Alternative Record Guide.
